DeSantis was an ardent supporter of the former president during his administration, but the two Republicans could be pitted against each other in the near future.
Trump, for his part, has run hot and cold on DeSantis in recent weeks: The former president and Florida resident nicknamed DeSantis “Ron DeSanctimonious” in a rally last week but voted for him on Tuesday. And on Wednesday, after DeSantis won reelection, Trump posted a rhetorical question on social media seemingly targeting the governor.
“[S]houldn’t it be said that in 2020, I got 1.1 Million more votes in Florida than Ron D got this year … Just asking?” Trump wrote on his own social media platform, Truth Social.
At his news conference on Wednesday, Biden was also asked about his plans to run for reelection in 2024. As he has said before, the president said he intends to run.
